Congratulations to YMCA ReBuild crew leader Allan Moody, who marks 2018 with 20 years of wonderful service at YMCA.
A valued member of the YMCA team since 1998 when he first worked at Werribee Recreation Centre, Allan has then been a much loved figure at ReBuild since its inception in 2010.
“I’m so happy to be a part of it,” Allan says of his time here. “The cause is truly meaningful.”
Already working at Werribee Recreation Centre, Allan became part of the YMCA team when it took over operations of the centre from Wyndham City Council in 1998. Over time he found himself taking on a number of roles.
“I was the maintenance man, the gym instructor, and I was doing customer service,” he says. “I liked it, I became very familiar with all the clientele… and I got better through the Y with my people skills.”
Those same people skills have seen him recognised as a great mentor for young people in his tenure at YMCA ReBuild.
“You’re a reflection to them in how you talk, how you behave, how you teach them.”
“You’re changing young people’s lives… that’s what drives me, when you know you’ve helped someone move on.”
As for what the future holds for him…
“To be honest I would love to stay here until I retire. I couldn’t think of anything better.”
Thank you for all of your work, Allan!
